5 River Gardens Lane

THE BREIF: Designed as a striking lifestyle home, the brief centred on maximising views to the Hakarimata Ranges while embedding the house into its landscape. A luxurious vaulted ceiling while maintaining a warm, comfortable interior year-round with the SIP panel construction. The layout is split into three distinct zones to create separation and privacy, while polished concrete floors, extensive glazing, and a light-toned walnut kitchen establish a modern, refined interior that feels open, warm, and intentionally different. Designed by Edwards White Architects

6 Inspired Way, Pauanui

THE BREIF: Positioned to capture harbour views while backing onto native bush, focused on creating a light, open home that maximises outlook and natural light through a calm, natural material palette. From the street, the house reads as a seamless cedar form, while to the rear it opens fully to decking, a plunge pool, and layered bush-to-harbour views, with both living spaces designed to connect effortlessly outdoors. Designed by Uami Architects

4 River Gardens Lane

THE BREIF: A home that felt striking and unconventional, with an industrial edge balanced by warmth and liveability. A pod-like layout creates a series of distinct zones that unfold as you move through the house, giving a sense of scale and flow without interruption. The design leans into long, unobstructed views and a strong connection to the land, with the home sitting low and grounded, allowing the architecture to feel both embedded in its setting and effortlessly cool. 11 Pinnacles Lane

THE BREIF: A compact lock-and-leave bach designed for effortless coastal living, focused on maximising space, light, and outdoor connection. The layout flows into open living with decking and outdoor areas, creating a light, bright interior that feels relaxed and easy. A full-length bench seat runs through the living space, providing integrated storage and seating, while a bunk room and flexible garage space allow for overflow accommodation. Bold cladding brings personality, grounding the home in a simple but confident bach aesthetic. Designed by Edwards White Architects

6b Kaikomako Drive

THE BREIF: A moody, industrial lifestyle home with a bold design approach that pushes boundaries in both form and detailing. The brief focused on creating a strong presence while still feeling grounded within the Hakarimata landscape. Dark tones are used intentionally to give the home depth and atmosphere, without overpowering its setting. Key moments, including a bathroom detailed with exposed copper conduit, along with industrial cable trays and track lighting, bring a raw, expressive edge that elevates the overall design and presents an unconventional lifestyle property.

33 North Ridge Drive, Pauanui

THE BREIF: A light, bright coastal bach designed to sit within and respond to the gully landscape, with a strong focus on year-round outdoor holiday living. The home centres around high ceilings and soft, beachy tones to create an open, relaxed atmosphere, while a covered outdoor living area with BBQ extends the living experience outdoors. A dedicated boat garage supports the coastal lifestyle, while the TV room features extensive glazing that projects out over the bush, creating a strong connection to the natural setting. The imagery has been digitally enhanced to better convey atmosphere and intent.

6 Panorama Parade, Pauanaui

THE BREIF: The original Connect Homes spec build, setting the direction for what followed. Positioned to capture wide views over the waterways, the brief focused on a strong architectural statement with a dark, industrial exterior contrasted by a refined, minimal interior. A key feature is the TV wall, finished in natural timber with concealed doors to create a seamless, uninterrupted face. Bedrooms open directly onto decking, reinforcing a simple, functional layout that prioritises outlook, flow, and effortless coastal living.
